Game 5 (Zerg / The Shattered Temple)


Build order / plan
  • 12 drone for scout (4 player map)
  • 14 gas
  • 13 drone for scout (2 player map)
  • 14 pool
  • 15 lord
  • 16 drone
  • 100% pool -> queen
  • 18 2xlings
  • Speed
  • 20 drone
  • Exp
  • 23 lord
  • Expo pops -> overlord
  • 30ish evo + spine crawler + drones on gas + second gas
  • 40ish roach + lair
  • Lair done -> 3rd gas
Pre game goal
Get a lot of drones early on and try to defend with spines, queens and speedlings. Then switch into mass roach/hydra, attack/pressure and get a 3rd up. Focus on timing everything and not forgetting stuff, use the adjustments for the timing:
  • Take drones from gas when pool is done
  • Instant larvae inject when queen pops
  • Make overlord when first vomit larvae
  • Make overlord when second hatch pops
  • 3rd gas when lair is done
Post game analysis
I lost to banelings. This strategy doesn’t work in ZvZ, at least not in short distance spawns. I can’t drone up like I want to. My roaches are too late and I don’t have enough zerglings in the early game.
