Game 10 (Protoss / Searing Crater )

Build order / plan
  • 12 drone for scout (4 player map)

Pre game goal
Get a lot of drones early on and try to defend with spines, queens and speedlings. Then switch into mass roach/hydra, attack/pressure and get a 3rd up. In the mid game, figure out what opponent is doing and counter this. Focus on timing everything and not forgetting stuff, use the adjustments for the timing:
  • Take drones from gas when pool is done
  • Instant larvae inject when queen pops
  • Make overlord when first vomit larvae
  • When building drones/lings from first inject, do new inject

Post game analysis
Opening went ok, money got a little bit high because expo was a little late. I scouted a fast nexus so I droned heavily. At 40 drones I went mass roach/hydra and pushed, while I took a third. I was a little bit outnumbered but I couldn’t retreat because I had hydras, then I reinforced like crazy with roaches and didn’t miss a single inject and eventually overrun him.

Post game analysis
Opening went pretty bad. Forgot to takes drones of gas after 100 and forgot speed. I scouted the front with ling and his base with ovy but didn’t see anything. Then couldn’t deal with blue flame hellions and lost 13 drones. After I droned up again, he pushed with marines, tanks and hellions and I lost.

Post game analysis
I again was pyloned / cannoned in, I really need to focus on my sending my second ovy to my natural and sending one drone when I scout it. After I killed the wallin, I double expanded and pressured with roaches. I scouted his 3rd too late and should have put more pressure on it. When I saw his 3rd, I took a 4th. Overall I didn’t mix in enough drones in the mid game. Scouted double robo and made corrupters but I messed up the engagement completely, I never really used corrupters and couldn’t handle the microing. After I lost my army,I got overrun. Also I got way out-upgraded.

Post game analysis
Opening went fine, until I wanted to expand....I was pyloned in (3 pylons + 2 cannons). I thought because he didn’t have any units, I will make only drones and upgrades and get a spine crawler to clear the front. Money got high because I couldn’t spend it. Saw he had his exp and figured he couldn’t have a lot of units so I double expanded after breaking out. Controlled the map and scouted his base. When he went for a 3rd, I took my 4th. After that I stopped drone production and massed roach/hydra. I scouted his push and crushed it, then overrun his 3rd and his base and won.

Post game analysis
Early game went ok.  Money got a little bit high. Scouted roaches, reacted by making own roach warren and skipped evo. Made 2 spine crawlers.  Saw roach+ling push coming, made 3 more spines, but too late. Really struggled to hold of the first wave. Used drones and roaches to hold it off, lost a lot of drones and felt behind (looking at the replay we are even in drones). Held off a few more attacks with two new spines and roaches. Pushed out with hydras and roaches and took a 3rd and destroyed his 3rd. I should have attacked and killed him, because I was 50 supply up. Waited waaaaaaaaay to long with attacking, then he had infestors and broadlords and crushed my 200 army easily, he pushed and I left the game. All and all, the early and early-mid game was good, I took a commanding lead.

I lost to banelings. This strategy doesn’t work in ZvZ, at least not in short distance spawns. I can’t drone up like I want to. My roaches are too late and I don’t have enough zerglings in the early game.
